Titania, one of the few villains in Marvel’s new Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, knows how to make an entrance. In the first episode, she bursts through a courtroom wall, sporting a skin-tight and frilly spandex bodysuit, complete with a gold-lapel overcoat, beads, and clownish red lipstick. Oh, and a mound of frizzy red hair.

The moment motivates lawyer and titular character Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) to transform into her oversized green alter ego in public for the first time and, naturally, save everyone from Titania’s wrath. The two engage in an all-out courtroom brawl, which ends with police carting out Titania (Jameela Jamil). The two meet again later in the series, this time going head to head for the rights to the “She-Hulk” name, which Titania is using for her influencer beauty brand. Yet again, Jennifer wins, but as Titania snidely tells the superhero: “This isn’t over, hater.”

In as many ways as Jamil and Titania are different — one is an outspoken body positivity activist, the other is a snake oil-selling influencer who’d schlep weight-loss pills if they made her a healthy buck — they’re also quite similar. As Jamil has described her, Titania has a habit of being “too much,” and social media users’ critiques of the actor have been along the same lines. And, like her character, Jamil refuses to let the haters keep her down.
